Every time I sign in to Facebook it asks, "what's on my mind?" My answer is rarely short enough to fit in the status box provided. This blog is a collection of my random thoughts and reflections that answers that question.

Blue Ribbon Cookies

On Saturday, I will be attending the Blue Ribbon Ball. My prince charming will be on a business trip so I plan to laugh the night away with some girlfriends while hovering over the silent auction items, more precisely my baking skills that are up for bid. If you don’t already know, I am donating two dozen homemade cookies to be delivered every other month for a year. I’ve never wanted to be my own boss, but the idea of this donation makes me feel like I am a professional baker. Silly maybe, but it’s an incredibly fun and happy feeling for me. Above everything I am excited to be able to make this donation to help The Parenting Place. So, naturally I’m nervous that my cookies won’t generate a lot of money. I did find out today that it will be packaged with 4 passes to Children’s Museum, a handmade afghan, and a hat from the Children’s Museum. Hmm, so will it be my cookies they want or the passes?

I’m baking chocolate chip and oatmeal Raisinet cookies to have as samples that evening in hopes of enticing people to place a bid. I feel like I’m entering a lottery. Who is going to win? Will it be someone I know who has already tasted my delectable desserts or will it be someone new to impress? In the end I hope it is someone easy to work with and whose bid is not only higher than the others, but also generous, because The Parenting Place is a great resource for families in my community. One that I utilize on a weekly basis, if not more, when I transitioned to a stay-at-a-home (that rarely stayed home.) To find out more go to www.theparentingplace.net.
