Every time I sign in to Facebook it asks, "what's on my mind?" My answer is rarely short enough to fit in the status box provided. This blog is a collection of my random thoughts and reflections that answers that question.

Best Medicine

I wrote this about a month ago and hope that it's the rebirth of blogging...

Sometimes I think sleep or water is the best medicine to physically feeling better….or is it? The other day I woke up not feeling great; stomach cramps led to neck cramps which led to a headache. (Nothing too out of the ordinary for me; not often, but not different enough for me to think I needed to go to the doctor or anything). I was off work that day and decided that I needed more rest and a “poor me” kinda day. My headache increased and I could have easily reached for the Excedrin or ibuprofen as I often do; but once and awhile I challenge myself to try to work through it. I tried to eat healthy, drank lots of water and rested most of the day. After school, my kids were great enough to answer my plea for a quick neck/head massage. I was feeling slightly better, but the headache remained. After dinner I went out into the cold; bundled up to take my daughter out for an hour to walk in the snow covered streets to sell Girl Scout cookies. The air was crisp, traffic was minimal and as dusk set into dark peacefulness prevailed. When we returned home (20 boxes or so lighter) I realized my headache was gone! I’ve read, heard and even experienced before that exercise (in my case walking or running) can relieve headaches, yet it’s so hard to get outside when I have one.
